The "Nice&Fair" exhibition, held at Paratissima in Turin from October 30 to November 3, 2024, was an artistic event divided into various sections. I participated in the segment titled "Sogno dunque sono" (I dream, therefore I am), which revolved around the central theme of dreams. My contribution consisted of four works, all designed to explore and depict a moment of pure ecstasy and dissociation from the physical body.
The pieces employ vibrant tones and intense contrasts, portraying limbs floating weightlessly as the body abandons the material world. These visuals allude to an altered and expanded state of consciousness, potentially inspired by psychotropic substances. Drawing from certain Eastern philosophies, the works suggest that the body can traverse parallel dimensions, experience new realities, and uncover profound truths. This metaphysical journey aligns with the concept of "sunyatã" in Sanskrit, meaning emptiness—the antithesis of the solid and concrete world envisioned by the ego, which is often filled with concepts, worries, and suffering.
Thanks to these works, I was awarded the "Contemporary Visions Prize", a recognition that will allow me to participate in the 2025 exhibition as an artist for the second consecutive year. This honor highlights the resonance and impact of the project, paving the way for continued exploration and expression in future exhibitions.
The project is a work of experimental graphic design, blending various techniques to bring its vision to life. To create the final pieces, I utilized a combination of photography, digital illustration, and other mixed-media approaches, allowing for a dynamic and layered visual language. This multifaceted process was essential in capturing the dreamlike essence of the concept, as each technique contributed unique textures, contrasts, and perspectives.
Similarly, the color palette plays a pivotal role, with each tone and contrast suggesting a distinct phase of the dream state. The vibrant hues and shifting gradients evoke the transition between moments of lucidity, detachment, and expansion, guiding viewers through the various layers of the dreamlike experience. The interplay of techniques and colors results in a series of artworks that transcend traditional boundaries, inviting viewers to explore the ethereal and abstract nature of the project's themes.
